Through The Lens: Assignment #2
The second assignment for Hallie’s Through The Lens: Digital Photography 101 tutorial tasks us with playing with our cameras in an effort to better understand white balance. She gave us a two-part assignment. The first part is to take a series of photographs of the same subject, with the camera set to a specific white balance setting (Daylight/Direct Sun). We’re asked to take the photographs at different times of day with different light hitting our subject, and observe the effect on the image…

The second part of the assignment asks us to take our best shot with the white balance setting that we feel is appropriate for the setting we’re shooting in. I like this photograph of a flower on my land, because the white is crisp and yet soft, while the other colours in the image are so vivid. I’m pleased to say that the only post-processing this image received was to be cropped to its 3:4 ratio and resized for manageable upload. (For a much more manipulated version of this same image, click here.)

Those are so cool. I really like your series shots. It shows the lighting variance very well.
The flower is beautiful. It’s so delicate and lovely. I like how you can see the detail of the water droplets. Very nice! :D

I think you captured great shots in both assignment 1 and 2. I hope my “eye” gets better. I will have to work really hard to learn how to do the post-processing of the pictures.
Blessings!
