Thematic Photographic: Blur

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 @ 6:16 pm | In my life..., In pictures...

Lately, I haven’t been participating as fully as I’d like in Carmi’s Thematic Photographic meme.  I’ve been a wee bit busy, but that’s no excuse.  But I happened to glimpse his photograph of his foggy street and it brought to mind a similar photograph I took in 2005… so for this week’s theme, blur, I present:

Foggy Morning
“Foggy Morning” – Photo Date: January 9, 2005

I don’t know why I was up that early.  But I do remember being struck by the stillness of the morning and running back inside the house to grab my camera so I could capture the scene.  Like Carmi, I have to apologize for the graininess of the image.  I took this with my old 4.0MP point-and-shoot in low light.  The larger view wasn’t any better, so I didn’t bother to upload it.  Sorry.

Very cool! Fog is so mysterious. I’ll have some shots posted soon because this is the heavy fog time of year for us.

I need to get in on Carmi’s Thematic Photographic. :)

Honestly, I think the graininess just adds to the feel. What a beautiful shot! I used to live in an area that had loads of fog. Can’t say I miss it much. Well, maybe just a little bit. :D

I’m totally with you about the striking stillness. It’s so palpable in this shot! I love it! :-)

Love the photo – even love the graininess – just goes to show that the opportunity and circumstances can trump the quality of the camera

I participated in the theme, too. but I’m coming in late.

Fog is one of my most favorite things. Great job catching it on film.

    Very eerie……

No need to apologize. As I learned when I took my own foggy image, sometimes a relatively primitive camera can work to your advantage. I suspect the SLR with the mega-megapixels and awesome lens would have made it…I dunno, too perfect. It’s the imperfection in the graininess that makes this picture.

New theme’s up, btw. Happy. Got any happiness bouncing around your world? I knew you would :)

I managed to get a couple of Blurs up before the end of the week, but nothing like this. As usual, you’ve blown my mind…

And actually, I think the grain is an asset in a shot like this one.
