Very cool shot! Did you use a Lensbaby?
July 8th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Great sensation of motion. I would ask, too: did you use a Lensbaby?
July 8th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
whoa! That is trippy! In a good way…
July 8th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
What is a Lensbaby? I think that’s my way of saying “no”.
Actually, I closed the aperture, put it on the slowest ISO setting, and slowed down the shutter speed. I wasn’t swinging very hard, so there wasn’t too much motion; just enough to give it the sensation. The hardest part was keeping the frame centered on the branch my swing hangs from. I needed to have some grounding to the picture. (I tried the shot without the stationary center, and it was just too much… and I also have a picture where I was spinning, but a friend of mine commented that it made him motion sick just looking at it, so I won’t do that to you guys.)
But, seriously, what is a Lensbaby? *goes off to Google it*

What an awesome shot! Very nicely done.
As far as the snakes? No, it wasn’t a poo thing . . . ha! ha! It’s just a nostalgic thing, cause we did those when I was a kid. And my boys wanted to get them. And they’re cheap and smell like childhood 4th of July to me. :D

I should have known you’d be a good photographer because you’re an INTP :) (My husband, who as you noticed is also an INTP, took the picture of the butterflies taking a drink on my WW post: http://chezartz.com/?p=288).
This is a great photo and evocative of long, hot summer days. Thanks for sharing and happy WW!
July 8th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Pretty trippy! I almost feel dizzy. :)
July 8th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Excellent shot! Reminds me of childhood. Happy WW: http://tinyurl.com/5os522

here’s my WW!
hope you can take a peek! thanks.

I thought this a great shot from the moment my eyes saw it, but after reading your “how you got it” comment, I’m really impressed! And yes, I too would like to know what a lensbaby is. Since nobody answered you, I guess I’ll have to go Google it. Happy WW….

Cool, you worked that technique very well. Great effect and now I’m inspired! I’d love to see the spinning one too :-)
cheers

Okay, well… you’ve been warned. This is the first spinning one I took. It was way too much, so I changed my settings for a faster shutter speed and I took this one.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:18 am
Excellent perspective.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:24 am
Cool idea for a photo. Even though it gives me a bit of a headache when I look at it, I like it. Good work!
July 9th, 2008 at 8:21 am
Humph. I’m an ENTP, so the best I got was this:
My second WW effort
Smoofus, when I saw this I honestly thought you’d “cheated” and used Photoshop’s smudge tool (with a really large brush size) to create the motion blur. Very impressive technique!
Gonna go look at the others now and see if I puke!
July 9th, 2008 at 8:41 am
Clever idea. Very cool shot. The blur of the movement almost looks like reflections. You should submit this to the creative photography contest. Very cool shot (she said, repeating herself).

Awesome perspective and what a cool idea for a shot!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Wow, what an awesome photo! What a neat idea, the “spinning.”
Happy WW :)

I LOVE this shot! What a great perspective — reminds me of perfect summer days in childhood :)

That photo makes me think of my childhood. (and made me slightly dizzy) :P Stop by and see our WW:

Great shot, even if it makes me a little woozy.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Ah, beautiful!!! What a brilliant shot!
Happy WW!!
July 9th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Okay, since I’m gong to get no peace, I will clarify. When I said “I thought you must have Photoshopped it” I was saying that our dear Smarm’s talent is so very good that it almost seems too good. Which is why my first reaction was that the photo must have been altered in some way. Keeping the sharp focus on the center branch while swinging — or even more amazingly while spinning — is astonishing.
Has everybody got that now? Show of hands?
Thank you!
July 9th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Great shot! We all look up at that view as children. But I don’t remember seeing anyone photograph it before.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
That is a really cool shot! I love how you designed it too. Good angle.
July 9th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Whoa, cool. How you managed to keep the center in focus, I’ll never know. Nice work. :)
July 9th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Oh, geez… I’ve incited a riot, haven’t I? I’m so sorry, Mojo. I know you were only expressing your admiration. I thought it would be funny to deliberately misunderstand. I mean… that’s comedy. I didn’t realize it would lead to problems. *chuckle*

Here is a brief description of a lensbaby and they are quite fun to work with. The effects are much like you were able to obtain
Lensbabies >>> Selective Focus SLR camera lenses. Lensbabies are selective focus SLR camera lenses that bring one area of your photo into sharp focus with that sharp area surrounded by graduated blur.

Hmm… “Lensbabies” huh? Why not just use a way bigger aperture than you need for the available light and call it a day?
And Smoofus darling, I know what you’re up to… I was playing along as the straight man on this one. (Work with me here sweetheart!)

Holy Crap!!!!

Sadly, g-man, people are more interested in what I don’t say. Look back… the ratio of words to comments is an inverse proportion. Maybe I should learn to keep my mouth shut and just snap pictures. Better to be seen and not heard. *sigh*
*wink*
July 16th, 2008 at 11:13 am
I was going to guess there was some Photoshop work involved, but from your comment I see that it was a “live” shot. Very nicely done. Looks great!
July 17th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Hey, I already posted on this last week! :D It’s still a nice photo.
BTW, I’ve revealed the secret to yesterday’s WW post!
