55 Flash Fiction: Defining Friends, part 1
It’s taken me all the way to my thirty-eighth 55, but it’s finally come to this. It’s always been there. Now you get to see it.
Floating room to room, he was always just leaving. Their eyes met and met… ‘Oh, those eyes,’ she sighed. He appeared young, just out of his single tour of duty. She felt like her young self, too, that lifetime ago.
She woke, remembered they haven’t spoken in years. “Not again,” she moaned wearily, opening Gmail.
Story behind the story:
SnowElf has transformed the 55 as we know it. Now everybody’s doing serials, so I will too. (I love bandwagons, and I’ll jump on one whenever I can. *grin*) Part reality, part fiction, all told from the heart. This might be the story.

everybody’s been beating me to everyone’s 55 tonight lol prob cuz i’ve been out doing school stuff…i’m now the cheer mom for the squad at the girls’ school, then there was instrument rentals tonight. stood in line an HOUR to BUY a drum pad and drum sticks (no rental). ugh!
anyways, i love the 55. of course i’ll tune in every week to see the saga :) i’m done w sagas for awhile hehe no 55, maybe in about 3 1/2 hours if not def tomorrow LOL

I’m not so sure I really like Serial 55’s.
To me it takes the spirit out of the meaning of the ’short’ story.
But since I never set any guidelines, I’ll just be thankful for the participation…

I think that as long as each installment can stand alone, the serial is fine. Of course, I say that as a bandwagon-rider. So maybe I’m biased. *smile*

I’m with Smoofus on the serial idea. When Snowelf started all of this, I noted that you could take each one of her installments on its own and it would meet the criteria. In the case of mine I was responding to the feedback I got on the first one. They wanted more… and you gotta give your audience what they want, right? (right??).
Besides… this is as close as I’m likely to get to writing that novel I’ve been planning all these years.
