That looks awesome! I wish it really really rained here, not the “should I turn on my wipers or not” stuff we get. Of course I would only want it to rain during one season and not all four too. I’m just picky like that.

  2. Smarmoofus Says:

We get this in the summer. And then when it’s done, and everything is saturated, we go back to sunshine and hot. Do you know what hot + wet equals? (Mojo, don’t answer that.) No, it equals humid. Ugh. But the rain feels awesome when it’s coming down.

  3. Bodhipaksa Says:

Hey, you can still see the trees. How bad could it be? ;)

  4. Smarmoofus Says:

*chuckle* I suspected someone from a true “monsoon region” would call me out on this. It’s really not bad at all. I wouldn’t want to get caught in it when I’m trying to look presentable, but it’s lovely to run through on a summer day (when I have no place to be).

  5. Mojo Says:

*picturing Smoofus playing in the rain*… *Sigh*, you should always wear drops of water, my lovely. And about that hot + wet crack…
(I’ll conjure up something suitably indignant as soon as I stop laughing…)
If it gets any more humid here, the birds will be swimming. It’s got to rain soon, the air won’t hold any more water. It’s trying to as I speak, but so far it’s just a tease. A hot, wet, steamy tease.

  6. Gabriel Says:

I drove ten hours today, from Waterloo, Ontario to just outside New York City. It rained the whole time (sometimes light, sometimes heavy). Nothing like a monsoon, though.

Here is my post. Happy WW!

  7. Tink *~*~* Says:

It does that in Southwest Florida in the summer, too. Only we don’t call it monsoons. We just call it rain :p

Seriously, it rained like that today because we are getting the outer bands of a hurricane that has been rolling over Cuba for the last couple of days. Hopefully it will be done tomorrow.

I love the geometry of heavy rain. It’s like someone’s scratching the photo lightly on a diagonal. I cringe inwardly when I can see rain like this – memories of getting caught in downpours are always fresh!

  9. Dawn @ My Home Sweet Home Says:

We could use some of that “monsoon” here – been in drought too long!

  10. Smarmoofus Says:

Still in a drought, Dawn? I know you commented about it a few times over the summer, when other people posted pics of their kids playing in sprinklers and stuff. You haven’t had rain to catch up yet?

  11. Mommwizdom Says:

It rained like that here just a few days ago… but I didn’t have the guts to go out and take a picture… Nice shot!

  12. Smarmoofus Says:

I didn’t have the guts to go out in it, either. I took that looking out my bedroom window. *hugs her camera* I won’t risk my Canon to the elements. I damaged my old Olympus point-and-shoot when I went out to shoot a flood in my neighborhood a few years ago. The zoom motor control seized. It would zoom in, but not out. Eventually (and I’m talking year or two later), it sorted itself out, and I’ve since passed that relic now-fully-functional classic piece of technology on to my cousin.

  13. Dianne Says:

What a great shot. I’m sure it gets a little overwhelming, but we’d sure love to have some moisture here. Your photo turned out very nice. :D

  37. Jim Says:

Well, how about this? Did you have to drive in it, that is one of the worst parts.
I live just north of Houston, we get those quite a bit with a summer tropical rain. Tomorrow and Saturday will be much worse, worse than yours.
Sorry I didn’t get back sooner, we are preparing for Huricane Ike around here. It should come right over us, we are 60 miles north from the center of Houston.
    Happy (late) WW! :-)
