I only did the spooky tree one on the left. My sister did the little alien, the classic jack-o-lantern, and the bats with the moon. My brother’s girlfriend did the cat and the headless horseman. I have to confess, we used patterns for most of them… they are papers printed with cutting lines and they tell you which bits to remove to achieve the desired look. Quite handy!
These are really amazing. Even if they’re made from patterns they’re done very well. In Scotland we made lanterns out of turnips (rutabagas). It was a lot of work because they’re solid and very hard. Pumpkins are much easier to carve — and they’re pre-hollowed, which seems very American somehow.
Did you post those last year when you did them? I think I remember seeing them. Whatever the case may be, they look fabulous! Someone did some serious carving!
Very impressive!! We bought two pumpkins last year and hacked up the first one so badly that we spared the second one from such humiliation. Great job with the pumpkins and great picture!
Wow…these make our little triangle-eyed fella look pitiful in comparison. I don’t think I have the patience to manage this. BUT…yours are spectacular! Even if you had help and cheat sheets, they’re still impressive! :)
