55 Flash Fiction: Exchanging Words
Woo! I really like this one. I think you will, too.
He smiled shyly. “Well, actually, I don’t really have a favorite word.”
She gasped in mock horror. “How can you not have a favorite word?!” Then she smiled. “Nevermind. Do you want to know my favorite word?” Even his parents seemed curious.
“What is it?” he giggled.
“Googlebot,” she declared, matter-of-factly.
“What’s a Googlebot?”
Story behind the story:
I use Sitemeter to see who’s visiting me. One of my regular visitors isn’t really a visitor. It’s a bot. But it has the Cutest. Name. Evar! Who wouldn’t love the word Googlebot? Meanwhile, I got the idea for a favorite word from an old Cinderella-type movie my sister encouraged me to watch about a decade ago (the movie is much older, but I only watched it a decade ago). In it, the fairy godmother character talks about some of her favorite words, including “elbow” and “windowsill”. My cousin’s little boy, Ethan, has yet to find his word, but now, all these years later, I have one. So, here’s to you, Googlebot! *raises her glass*

Googlebot…at least its not the crazy asian spammer…he visited me one night…it was not pretty. favorite word is probably “dinner.” lol. nice 55.

Right now, “dinner” does sound mighty appetizing. I think I will procure some. Thanks for the reminder! (I’ve been plagued by an Asian spammer for the past week-ish. Fortunately, I use Akismet spam blocker on my blog, so “his” comments are immediately eighty-sixed.)

Okay….so I Googled Googlebot as a goof (which is one of my favorite words) and Wikipedia says Googlebot “is the search bot software used by Google..” Wouldn’t you know it. Still, I like your fun 55. My 55 is up and HERE.

Such a cute 55, full of whimsy!
I have two favorite words ~ one sappy…it’s “moon” because it was my first child’s first word. The other is simply regional ~ arrivederci because it’s so much fun to say with the rolled “R”’s.
