I had to update my hardware last week because the household updated its networking hardware, rending my old internal wireless NIC incompatible. I was out of USB ports, so going with an external adapter was unappealing at best. Besides, the Age of Vista is behind us, so I felt it was safe to start fresh. But starting fresh meant dealing with a not-XP operating system, and it took me several days to learn how to customize it to suit me. But now it’s all snazzy. *happy* Oh, oh, and last night I even found the setting to automatically deactivate the static pad (touchpad) while a mouse is plugged in! No more accidental cursor jumps and clicks!

It’s such a good thing to have a properly functioning laptop! Technology is great when it works and horribly annoying when it doesn’t. Happy WW! :D

I would love to customize Windows 7. My pc with Vista is annoying. Sometimes apps work and sometimes they don’t. I haven’t changed anything. Yet my Vista pc seems to be messing with my sanity.

You can still get XP on a new Dell (or you could last July anyway) but it’s getting harder to find it. I guess everybody’s worried Micro$oft will drop support for XP and leave them holding the bag. Dell built mine with XP and vista so I could “upgrade when I felt comfortable with it”. (Yeah, that’s gonna happen.)
With everything The Borg did to MS Office in the 2k7 edition I’m truly scared of Windows 7. They took a well functioning familiar product and turned it into a bewildering landscape of obfuscation and confusion.
